Message from Amanda

Never did I think our latest news item would be published with all club sessions cancelled, no sport allowed and us all effectively in quarantine. These are certainly unprecedented times and I wish you and your families all the very best in what are very difficult circumstances for everyone.

Watch this space for updates.

ALL EAGLES SESSIONS AND MATCHES CANCELLED WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT...

In light of the recent announcement by the prime minister outlining the countries efforts to combat the spread of COVID-19, all Eagles Badminton Club affiliated events are cancelled until further notice.

All sessions, club nights, coaching, social play, matches or any other event in conjunction with the club will be cancelled effective immediately. To be clear there will be no sessions on Tuesday 17th March and onward.

This decision has been taken in direct response to the government advice to avoid all non-urgent social contact. Please follow the governments guidance on this.

When the situation nationally improves to a level which is deemed acceptable and we can resume activities, we will advise everyone of the start date via text, email and on the website.

When sessions resume we will advise then regarding fees and potential reimbursements where required. Anyone who has paid will not lose any sessions or money as a result of this closure. We ask that you pay the March payment due on the 19/3 as this includes the weeks in the first half of the month and we will take this into account when sessions resume. You pay two weeks in arrears and then two weeks in advance. We understand you may want to stop your standing order from April. Once things get back to normal we will notify you of start date and fee arrangements.

Thank you all for your cooperation and wish you all well.

Double Gold for George ....

Congratulations to George Dives, a double gold winner at this weekend's Redbridge tournament. He won the singles and then won the doubles with his partner James Cargill (also an Eagle). George played a total of 12 games and won all of them. Well done George and James, a great achievement.

Coronavirus Precautions

As you are aware, the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is currently in the news and the threat to the UK is low to moderate. Therefore, we want to do our bit to minimise any chance of spreading it.

We are asking that, when matches are completed, players lightly touch rackets with their opponents rather than shaking hands. This action is being implemented across many sports in this country and in many others around the world. We ask that this happens after any matches whether in the league or during club sessions.

We will keep this action in place until the end of the season or until there is news that the virus has been contained. Thank you for your understanding.
