Essex U13 Win National Title

Essex U13s recently won the national Shires League title with two Eagles, Alicia Chu and Thushar Jithesh, in the team.

Having finished with the 9th best record over the regular season Essex had to qualify for the finals through a Play Off round against Leicestershire but sailed through with a comprehensive 20-0 victory.

The quarter final match pitched us against unbeaten Surrey. A team we had already lost to in the regular season but this time we prevailed with a 14-6 scoreline mainly thanks to success in the Mixed and Boys Doubles.

The semi final against Cheshire was even more convincing with a 16-4, this time it was the girls that dominated taking all four singles and all four level doubles.

Fittingly the grand final against Warwickshire was the closest match of the day with Essex securing the title by 13-7. A clean sweep in the Boys Doubles being the decisive factor.
