Havering Finalists at London Youth Games

The three convincing wins mean that Havering qualify, as group winners, for the finals of the London Youth Games to be held at Crystal Palace on 30th June. The Havering team consisted of Coco Zhang, Bethany Law, Abbie Wallis, Katie Nicholls, Paige Beaumont, Sam Hampton, Robert Clark, Felix Ngooi, Adam Tripp and Oliver Bowry. Having finished second for the last two years the team are determined to go one better and do themselves proud this year.



The Havering team faced Kingston in the first game at the qualifying event, hosted at the new Redbridge badminton facility, and ran out convincing 5 - 0 winners (girls singles 21-13, boys singles 21-16, boys doubles 21-17, girls doubles 21-9 and mixed doubles 21-3). The next match was against Soutwark which again they won 5-0 (girls singles 21-0, Boys singles 21-9, girls doubles 21-1, boys doubles 21-7, mixed doublews 21-7) before playing City of London to guarantee qualification to the finals. Again the Havering team powered to a 5-0 victory (girls singles 21-5, boys singles 21-7, girls doubles 21-1, boys doubles 21-9, mixed doubles 21-2).

Head Coach Amanda said; "Havering did really well at the qualifying event and made sure of a convincing performance, they have all worked really hard and hopefully they will achieve the reward they deserve. We are looking forward to the finals at Crystal Palace!"
